I wished suddenly that we had years behind us, that we had already mapped out the geography of each other’s hearts.

I wanted to ask her if her brother had the same colour eyes as she did, like water flowing over moss-covered stones.

I wanted to know the song that made her think of her first kiss.

I wanted to find out if she’d ever heard the wolves howling at night…
